In-depth Baking Tutorial

For this tutorial you're going to need flour, eggs, butter... Just kidding! We're not doing that kind of baking today, this is a beauty blog after all. We're going to be baking our faces! That's right our faces. Earlier today I wrote a review for my Airspun Loose Face Powder and I promised a tutorial on how I use this product. Let's get right into the good stuff.

The stars of today show will be Airspun Loose Face Powder, Revlon Colorstay Concealer, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette, Real Techniques Contour Brush, large fluffy brush, makeup wedge, and a beauty bud (mine is by Younique).

I started this tutorial with a fresh application of my favorite foundation.

Next, I applied my Revlon Colorstay concealer in an upside down triangle under my eye. I like my concealer a few shades lighter that my skin tone to help highlight the centers of my face. You'll feel a little silly doing this but you'll get flawless results every time. With this concealer (and most) a little goes a long way. If you put too much, you'll have trouble blending it out later.

With my beauty bud, I blend out each eye until everything is seamless. It's best to dampen your beauty blender when blending out thick products; a damp beauty bud disperses the product evenly. Be sure to work out the product under your eye, you don't want it to cake up you pack on the setting powder.

Immediately after I blend out the concealer, I take my makeup wedge and pack on the Airspun powder. It looks like a lot, but this is where we get the term "baking". After you pack on the powder, leave it for five to ten minutes. This process will soak up all the oils under your eye that cause creasing. By leaving the powder to "bake" you are ensuring that your concealer will not budge or crease all day. With the edge of the beauty wedge I like to place some powder under my cheek bones to help contour my cheeks and also let that bake. While your baking, you can work on your eye shadow, etc.

After the timer goes off, in one swift motion wipe off all the excess powder with a large fluffy brush. Since the setting powder is translucent, it doesnt give me any color. I like to take my ABH Contour Kit, with my RT Contour Brush and apply the yellowish shade under my eyes just to give me some color!

Now, you're left with a flawless under eye that will last all day/night!  I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial on how to BAKE. Please follow my blog for daily Beauty Insider.

Airspun Setting Powder review!

After a long (much needed) Thanksgiving break, I am back! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving with their families.

Today, I will be reviewing Airspun Loose Face Powder. I heard about this product from the amazing Patrick Starrr, he raves about this product on his Youtube channel, I knew I had to find this product and try for myself. I had to go on an adventure to find this product. I wasn't able to find it at my local Walmart, Walgreen, or Target. My last stop was K-Mart, in the beauty section I finally found it. You may have this product at your local store, you just have to search for it.

I have a HUGE problem with creasing under my eyes so I wanted a powder that was going to take care of that and leave me with a flawless under eye concealer. Airspun did just that! This powder is awesome for only $5.99. Patrick uses this product to bake with, which is also what I wanted to use the powder for. (If you don't know what baking is, I will be doing a post about it soon) I use this powder with a makeup wedge and pack it on to my under eye concealer, or I will use a fluffy brush to put a little under my eyes for a less dramatic effect. Let me tell you, this product did not budge all day. I did not have under eye creases by the end of the night, my concealer was still bright and highlighted. It was lovely. The powder does have a powdery makeup scent, but once you apply it to your face the scent goes away. I have tried many drug store setting powder but none have impressed me as much as Airspun has. Other products would fade away throughout the day so I would be left with blotchy concealer! Not cute!

Thank you Patrick Starr for raving about this product! It's amazing especially for a drug store product. Stay tuned for an in-depth tutorial on how I use this product! I hope you enjoyed this quick review on this lovely product. Check it out, and tell me what you think! Please follow my blog for more Beauty Insider.

Profusion Feline Liquid Lipstick Review

I'm a sucker for a good bargain! I mean, really, who doesn't love a great beauty bargin1 At my local TJ Maxx, in the beauty section, I found a product that intrigued me. Liquid lipsticks by Profusion Cosmetics! I have never heard of this company before buying this product. I bought a package of 6 beautiful shades for $5.99! Can't beat that right?

Upon opening my package I noticed each lipstick has a unique cat related name- so cute! Here are swatches of each shade.
Purr

Lick Me

Whiskers

Cheshire

Meow

Prowl

I enjoyed every shade, except Prowl. The texture is somewhere in between a gloss and liquid lipstick, sorta like a mousse. There was a light berry scent- I didn't mind it. One coat covered both my lips. They don't dry into a matte consistency like I thought they would. They're also not long lasting like a normal liquid lipstick, and they do transfer. (Profusion does not claim these to be long lasting.)

I tested Whiskers on Sunday to see how it would hold up. I applied it only once, no touch ups throughout the day.

  • First and only application at 11:22 am

  • At 1:10 pm I noticed some feathering on my top lip, overall the color seems to be intact.

  • After lunch, 1:50, loss of color

  •  Finally at 3:30 I ended my experiment because there wasnt much left on my lips to experiment with.

After five hours the lip stick was pretty much gone. Throughout the day, I noticed transfer on my water bottle even my fork during lunch. If you are wearing these lippies I would recommend you touch up after you eat a meal, kiss someone, or after you have a drink.

These are definitely a product I would use over and over. Color pay off is true to the tube, except for Prowl. I was very disappointed when Prowl wasn't the same as the tube like the other shades were. From the outside, Prowl looks like a beautiful Merlot shade. (This is why we don't judge books by their cover!) Next time, I will also make sure to use a lip liner to avoid feathering. Overall I find these to be a good product for only approximately $1.00 per tube of liquid lipstick! If you are interested, you can find this product on Profusion Cosmetics website.
